HI I'MABBIE LANE

A life in snapshots. A campaign rooted in Dirt Road Logic.

Before there was a campaign logo or a yard sign, there was a kid growing up on Eastern North Carolina dirt roads, watching plants close, neighbors struggle, and families stretch every dollar. This page isn’t a résumé — it’s a timeline of the moments that shaped why I’m running for the North Carolina House.

Abbie’s Timeline

Not every chapter has a headline, but each one added up to this campaign. Here’s a snapshot timeline of the moments that shaped my voice and my fight for Edgecombe, Martin, and Bertie.

EARLY YEARS
Growing Up in a Big, Working-Class Family
I grew up with a mom who was one of thirteen children and a step dad (to me just dad as he is who raised me) who was the son of a Southern Baptist minister and farmer. He worked at Long Manufacturing until the plant closed. He is who taught me the value of a dollar and that your word makes you who you are. Watching that play out up close taught me what “economic development” really means when it’s your family’s livelihood on the line.
ROOTS & RESPONSIBILITY
Never sit silent when something isn't right
My family has been tied to Edgecombe and this corner of North Carolina for generations. That deep root system isn’t something I wave around as a trophy, it’s a responsibility. From an early age I always understood that being silent wasn't an option. From the time I was in middle school I was advocating before school boards for education funding and the journey never stopped from there.
DOING THE WORK
Rural Revitalization & Small-Town Projects
Long before I filed to run, I worked with groups and organizations, local leaders, and partners around the country on rural broadband, growth, small-town branding, and economic development. The goal was simple: help our towns tell their story, attract investment, and prove that rural doesn’t mean “less than.”
DIRT ROAD LOGIC
From Frustration to Candidacy
After years of watching our district lose hospitals, see schools struggle, and watch investment pass us by, I reached a point where frustration had to turn into action. Running for NC House isn’t about chasing a title, it’s about making sure that when decisions are made in Raleigh, somebody in the room is thinking about the dirt roads, the small towns, and all the people who need a seat at the table the most.

Dirt Road Logic
From Cub Scouts, to 4H, to the Governor's Page Program the people in the communities of district 23 helped shape me and now it's my turn to show that faith wasn't wasted.

“I’m not running to be the loudest person in Raleigh. I’m running to be the person who never forgets what it feels like to balance a budget at the kitchen table and still come up short. The person who doesn't forget that every vote I make isn't just what looks good on the next campaign mailer but makes a positive impact on the people and communities I serve.”

Add Your Story to This Timeline

This campaign is one chapter in a much bigger story about Eastern North Carolina. This story is about the people who stayed when it would’ve been easier to leave, who kept showing up when it would’ve been easier to give up. If you see your story in mine, I’m asking you to choose a lane and stand with us.
